The Recipe for Team Chemistry (Part 1)

Updated: Apr 26, 2022

So, if Chemistry is the secret to winning, how do great teams get great Chemistry? Just like a

favorite recipe has certain ingredients, so does Chemistry. In order for a Coach to build a Team that has great Chemistry, they have to understand and know what those ingredients are. Once they know the ingredients, they can start adding them one at a time throughout the off season and then reinforce them throughout the Season. Let's look at the first ingredient needed for building Chemistry with your Team - SELFLESSNESS.

Selfishness creeps around a locker room like a staph infection. It is dangerous, hard to see, and hard to get rid of. A Coach who is intent on building Chemistry is constantly on the lookout for signs of this infection. Selfishness is the quickest way to destroy the Chemistry of your team.

The good news though, is unselfishness, or SELFLESSNESS, is the quickest way to build Chemistry. By constantly talking about, teaching, and rewarding your kids for genuinely loving and supporting their teammates, you begin to create an environment where focusing on others needs is more popular than focusing on your own needs. This is the first step and one of the most important ingredients for building Chemistry.
